Baltimore has a museum for every type of art lover. From the quirky collections of Visionary Arts Museum to the classical collections of the Walters to the contemporary wing at the BMA; there is a museum that is sure to delight every art seeker. In a town known for its art school and annual Artscape event, it is no surprise that art can be found just about everywhere in Baltimore. Mount Vernon is the cultural heart of Baltimore. Spend the entire weekend here or just the afternoon. High above Mount Vernon Place, the George Washington monument promises a rewarding view for all who climb its 227 steps. This historic square is also home to The Walters Art Museum and what Travel & Leisure have named "the most beautiful library in the world," The George Peabody Library housed within the Peabody Conservatory.

For more off-the-beaten path culture seek out the Edgar Allen Poe House Museum, soak up the history on the cobblestone streets of Fells Point or stroll around The Avenue in Hampden.

Charm City's food and cocktail scene is thriving.
